About the Palliative Performance Summary Report

The purpose of the Provincial Palliative Care Program’s Performance Summary Report (PSR) is to guide quality improvement activities based on performance of system-level measures and supporting measures, peer comparison and Ontario Health (OH) region-level and Ontario Health Team (OHT)– level assessment. The PSR is updated quarterly, and the data lag is typically 5-6 months.

Accompanying this report is the PSR Technical Appendix, which provides details on the methodology and data sources used to produce the decedent cohort and measures reported in the PSR. Details on the specifications of numerators, denominators, and calculations for measures are also provided. The PSR and Technical Appendix are produced by the Quality Measurement and Evaluation (QME) team.

This report contains confidential and/or privileged information that is meant only for its intended recipients. Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario business unit) has provided this information solely for the purposes of performance management. Do not use, publish or disseminate the content of this report without the consent of Ontario Health.

The de-identified and/or aggregate information contained in this report is not to be used, either alone or with other information, to identify an individual. This includes attempting to decrypt information that is encrypted, attempting to identify an individual based on un-encrypted information, and/or attempting to identify an individual based on prior knowledge.

A reminder that as per OH policy this data is not shareable in this format with your regional stakeholders (e.g., data from the PSR dashboard should not be emailed to anyone outside of your organization). You may share summaries of data for planning purposes with your stakeholders.

Content

The PSR dashboard features filters to view the data by fiscal year or quarterly, as well as by OH Region, and by OHT. A data table can be found at the end of the dashboard for OH Regions to view numerator, denominator and rates associated with each measure.
